Not very often am I shocked into silence by someone mouthing off. I was today. After seeing my banner picture of Duncan in the deer stand, some random nutty person in a FB group felt the need to call me out for endangering my children. She said, You should talk to some tree stand accident victims and their families and then youd think twice about it because then youd know what it feels like... Wow. Shocked silent. Only someone who doesnt know me and my family would ever say such a thing to me. I didnt respond to her and Im not going to, but I will say this: Not a single trip to the tree do I not *remember* what it feels like. But when your odds of meeting your maker are 100% for everyone, life is not about birth and death, its about the time spent in between. Living is dangerous, but you gotta keep at it. And thats something I learned from my Dad; a man who fell 32 feet out of a tree stand, landed on his head, and broke his neck.
