Not very often but occasionally I actually feel pity for the political and tele marketeers who interrupt my reverie! Last night as I watched a replay of the Georgia-Missouri game, scouting for the upcoming game when the Hogs play Georgia in Little Rock. The phone rang and caller ID alerted me to the possibility that some interloper must have the temerity to interrupt a man in his castle! I try to be pleasant, many times it is a friend with an unfamiliar number. This turned out to be a crisp voiced young lady inviting me to a bash for one of the senatorial candidates, I had gotten the same invite the previous day. I listened politely and told her that I would love to attend but that I was tied up this week end with an art tour. But, then, the devil took over and I proceeded to tell her that I really appreciated her call, that I was a member of Midgets of America and that we midgets were seldom represented by either party and to top all off I recently discovered that my wooden leg was infested by termites! By this time the young lady had gone silent and it became apparent that she had swallowed the whole story! I felt badly, when I laughed to alert her and she did not get it. I ended the conversation wishing her luck and telling her that I was not a midget but just a crusty old curmudgeon and that I admired her commitment and dedication. :) G.B.
