Nota: Sony TV Producing Donnie Brasco-Inspired Gangster Series El Dandy Sony Pictures Television and Televisa have begun production in Mexico on El Dandy, a Spanish-language series inspired by the Oscar-nominated gangster film Donnie Brasco. Starring Alfonso Herrera (The Perfect Dictatorship) and Damian Alcazar (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), El Dandy centers on an undercover police agent who infiltrates a Mexican drug ring. The crime drama will air on Univision network UniMas in the U.S. and across multiple Televisa platforms in Mexico. Sony and Televisa recently signed a multiyear deal to co-produce 12 drama series consisting of 840 hours of content. The first drama produced under the agreement, Senorita Polvora, will premiere on TNT and UniMas later this year. Both series are set in Mexicos criminal underworld. Released in 1997, Mike Newells Donnie Brasco, starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp, was nominated for an Academy Award for adapted screenplay. goo.gl/P2N32O
