Note 11- Psalm 63:9-10 9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. 10 They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals. There are two angles here to look at... 1. Physically there were people hoping to kill David. They had tried to prevent him from becoming king. They had chased him to other kingdoms where he could have been killed. 2. Spiritually, David was being banned from Gods ordinances. Cut off from where he usually went for spiritual nourishment. He felt like they were trying to force him to serve other gods. 1 Sam 26:19 Now let my lord the king listen to his servant’s words. If the Lord has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the Lord! They have driven me today from my share in the Lord’s inheritance and have said, ‘Go, serve other gods. There are people we have met in life that we are pretty sure they have went to hell when they died. Maybe it was the enmity inside them that made us think that. Or we outright knew what they believed. Some would say that David expresses a confidence in where his enemies would be going physically, spiritually he also knew that as they sought him, as they had evil intentions in their heart that they were spiritually descending into hell in a way. David knew that how most men lived, they would die... like live by the sword, die by the sword was a very possible outcome. Prophetically he could have known how they would die (such as Saul) and David knew the punishment for such evil (being food for jackals)... think of what all befell Jezebel. We know that Saul was essentially killed by the sword. His body, not recovered immediately but was out where the beasts and the birds had access to it. Despite the fact that David was kept from the temple, and chased even into enemy land such as the time David resided with the Phillistines. David always knew who was in control. He knew that God could nourish him anywhere. He knew God was always there and always had his back. This confidence in the Lord is what we need to grasp. As you listen to this song... How would you express your hope and faith in the Lord? https://youtube/watch?v=R0gu0nOaFsI
