Note to self, when going to donate platelets, do not mention that you would like to finish quicker that the usual 3 hour wait. since i give every two weeks, we are like family on the platelet donor bus, the leaders son was a nurse for Dee while in Cooper, so I describe my daughters coming for a belated Thanksgiving dinner tonight, the technicians say, no problem, as she hastily preps me, she says here is the stick, she sticks me, says are you OK, I say Yep, then instantly I feel the strongest sharpest pain, I look down, the needle has been pulled out and my blood is shooting out, I cover the spurting hole with my other hand, the blood almost totally covered her white gown! The tape laying on the IV tube had gotten stuck to her sweater and when she reached over my head, it yanked it out! So they do the computer work to cancel my donor number and issue a new one, but she accidently hit the COMPLETED button! They tried to make it so I could donate, even calling their Philly office, but I could not! The only stupid question is the one not asked, so, why do phlebotomists wear white instead of red gowns? because she will have to throw that one out! LOL atleast I tried, my daughters are on their way, and BTW Dees friend Diane got an excellent report on her pathology! Totally clean! Praise the Lord!
