Note to self: you have far too much experience and knowledge of dog character to ignore that little voice that says, You need to put a piece of cardboard between that crate and the wall if you want to keep those drapes. So of course, I put it off until later... I moved all the dog crates around yesterday, because when Corey-bear came for Christmas, (Thanks Karla!) I just tossed a couple of extra crates in the kitchen because, well, it was Christmas and the whole house was rearranged to make room for the Christmas tree. And I had company here which meant extra dogs too so space was at a premium. But it was really inconvenient, and made it hard to get to the kitchen table as a prep area, so no Christmas cookies, etc. But I finally got around to putting all the Christmas stuff away, and I needed to move the crates around to have my kitchen table back again. After several measurements, I figured out a better arrangement that was more efficient for using the table as a workspace, but it involved putting two of the kennels against the wall with the kitchen window... and its floor length drapes. Something told me this was an accident waiting to happen... experience, perchance. So yeah, I do need to cut the drapes shorter but I just havent gotten around to it yet, what with road trips and the holidays and all. But I figured, I will get around to it, and Ill run to Lowes tomorrow and get some plywood to slide there, surely they will be fine for a day or two, its not like the puppy is really a puppy anymore, hes well over a year now and he hasnt torn anything up for quite a while. Famous last words. Still, I pulled the curtains taut and pushed a chair against them to lessen to possibility of anyone managing to pull any loose fabric through the window. So of course, I just came into the kitchen after hearing a suspicious noise to discover that Inigo had yes, indeed, managed to get the bottom half of the outer drapes into his crate, and in dragging them through the window he had pulled the entire rod and both drapes off the wall, pulling out the curtain rod bracket in the process. *sigh*... the wages of laziness and not listening to that little voice. Hard to be mad at the dog when I knew better, but I still scolded him for it. So now the bracket is reinstalled, the torn curtains back in place (fortunately all the damage is all on the part of the drapes I was going to cut off when I shortened them,m anyway) and tied back out of reach, and his window has been covered with the only thing I could find that would work, a rubber tub mat that is stiff enough to keep him from dragging it through the window holes, but flexible enough to fit to the crates outer contour. Hopefully we can get through the night without any further destruction. I dont even really care that much about the drapery panels, but if he had decided to eat them after dragging them in, it could have gone badly. I know better than this, what the heck was I thinking?? LOL :/
