Notes From the Ex Comm - August 10 Welcome to notes from the Ex Comm (short for Atlanta Radio Club Executive Committee). One of our missions as your new team in 2014-15 is to keep you more up to date in the goings on in the ARC. This is the first of what will be some informal / informational updates throughout the year. Who is the new Ex Comm? Pretty much same as the old one, with one trade. Bill P (KB4KFT) remains President, Ade S (KJ4CUY) is still VP. The Secretary/Treasurer tandem of Dick (K2UFT) and Newt (N4EWT) are still intact. Jim Reed (N4BFR) joins in as the new Member at Large. Jim previously was club Secretary. Did you know, you can reach the whole team with one email? [email protected] gets it there. What’s an OO? Nice talk from WB4A, Rich the Official Observer Coordinator for Georgia (and newest ARC Member!) about the OO program at the last meeting. The OO’s look for ways to help hams with better operating practices and have been known to send good guy cards for ops doing well. Look for a picture of Rich on the clubs Facebook Page (https://facebook/groups/atlantaradioclub/) Next Meeting September 4th – (That’s after Labor Day this year) On the docket is a discussion of contest tips for non-contesters and an update from Atlanta ARES. September Sunday Tech September 14th – Hands on DStar with Robin (AA4RC) and John (WB4QDX) Hold the Date and Help Wanted Looking into October, several things going on that you may want to get involved with. Sat 10/4 – National SET – Atlanta ARES will be participating. Contact John – KG4USN Sat 10/4 and Sun 10/5 – Atlanta Maker Faire – Georgia Section of ARRL will have a booth, contact Norm (WA4ZXV) if interested in helping. Tentative – October 18th – Would like to hold a Ham Cram in conjunction with Freeside Atlanta. Contact Newt (N4EWT) or Jim (N4BFR) if you can help organize training or VE’s. Repeater Update Looking at noise in the PL circuit causing some of the reverb issues, as well as tracking down noise on the Linked Repeater net. Thanks to Michael (KD4EHM) and Stephen (KJ4PTO) for continuing to troubleshoot, IT IS getting better! We’ll wrap up with this reminder – All member dues renew in September, so watch for more information from Dick and Newt to get your 2014-15 membership started off right. Best – Jim for the Ex Comm
