Notes from research: Other spelling variations include. Brozak, Brosczak, Broszczak and Broszczok. Also the first name on legal documents is noted as Adelbert, however he was known as Albert. Another note to the name is that on the birth record of their son Paul [ Pavel ] the first name is listed as Wojcieck, as noted, since this is the oldest document to date listing his name, I am assuming that this is the truest form unchanged for Americanization. The earliest records are showing that Alberts work was that of a coal dock employee, at Fort William , Ontario, Canada . During the early part of the 1900s Albert worked for CP Rail. One place the family was located, was Ft. William, Ontario, Canada. The 1920 census has his occupation listed as repairer with the railroad. CP Rail is also known as Soo Line Rail in the United States. At the time of his death he was listed as a plumber and was known to have worked at Contoski Plumbing. In his own hand, written on Helenas death certificate he has written that both he and Josephine where born in Austria., other documents ( i.e. Federal Census ) show that they were from Galicia, Poland. ****** Source: Hamburger Passagierlisten, 1850-1934 Name: Wojciech Broszczak Departure Date: 4 Mai 1904 (4 May 1904) Estimated Birth Year: abt 1875 Age Year: 29 Gender: männlich (Male) Marital Status: ledig (Single) Family: Household members Residence: Chorostkow Ethnicity/Nationality: Österreich (Austrian) Occupation: Landmann, Tagelöhner Ship Name: Barcelona Shipping Line: Dampfschiffsrhederei Union Ship Type: Dampfschiff Accommodation: Zwischendeck Ship Flag: Deutschland Port of Departure: Hamburg Port of Arrival: Halifax Volume: 373-7 I, VIII A 1 Band 155 Page: 782 Microfilm Roll Number: K_1783 * Possible Match further research needed ****** Source: Federal Census, January 16, 1920 T625-832, Ward 1, ED 22, Page 16A Minneapolis, Hennepin County, North Dakota Albert age 43, and wife Louisa age 37 are living on Marshall Street N.E.. Living at home are their children Mary age 14, Paul age 12, Frank age 10, Anna age 5 and Jennie age 1 and 9 months. Mary and Paul were born in Canada and the other children in Minnesota. Both parents indicate that they were born in Galicia, Poland. Albert immigrated in 1908 to the United States and became a citizen in 1920. He lists his occupation as repairer with the railroad. ****** Source: Federal Census, April 17, 1930 T 626-1107. ED 4, Page 2B Bradbury Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota Albert was found on the census with the last name spelled yet another way, BROZKE. There is no doubt to me that this is the same Albert and family. Wife Josephine, children Frank, Jennie and Francis were still living at home. Frank was 21, Jennie age 11, and Francis a young girl of 9. Albert at the time is a dairy farmer. The census indicated that he owns his own home. It also shows that by the time this census was taken they had become naturalized citizens. It would appear that this was 1921 for Albert and 1922 for Josephine. * Note. it is difficult to read the exact date for Albert, it could be 21, 23 or 27. But seeing as how Josephine was naturalized in 1922 I would assume that Albert was naturalized the year prior to her. ****** Source: Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002 Name: Albert Brozcak Birth Date: 23 Apr 1877 Death Date: 13 Jun 1958 Death County: Hennepin State File Number: 023451 Certificate Number: 023451 Certificate Year: 1958 Record Number: 1371913 ****** Source: Obituary ; The Star Tribune, Minneapolis, Minnesota Brozcak, Albert, age 81, formerly of 305 2nd Street N.E..
