Notes from the past bible study (11/5/14): • How many of us can honestly say that we love God 100%? - We know that God loves us, but do we truly love God? - Love is always defined by the receiver, and not the giver. • John 21:15-19 (NIV) – Jesus told Peter that if he loves Him, he must feed His sheep. - Jesus is commissioning us to feed His sheep. - In other words, God is asking you to share the Word with others. - It also means that you must help those who are new to Christ. - We must encourage one another with the Word. • 1 John 3:18 (ISV) – Love not with words, but with actions! • “The worst mistake you can ever make is sleeping away your salvation after you’ve been born again.” - In others words, you have to do something to build up the Kingdom of God. - It also means that you must always be on your guard against sin & temptations. - 1 Corinthians 10:12 (NIV) – Don’t think that you’re so “spiritual” or Christian” that you can resist sin and temptation on your own strength or willpower. Don’t play around with sin or temptation! • How to share the burden (meaning the work) with “laid” people (ordinary, or unskilled people): - Don’t exclude anyone from anything Ex. – The wealthier members of a church shouldn’t be expected to only support the church financially. They can also encourage people concerning the Word. - Don’t exclude yourself. It doesn’t matter what you can or can’t do. God will help you to do whatever it is that He called you to do. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) – God will help you whether you’re feeling strong or if you’re having a weak moment. Don’t be ashamed to come to God because of your weaknesses. God already knows your weaknesses and He can help you. God’s best work is done when youre feeling weak! • God will never forget your labor of love for Him. • 1 Chronicles 22:1-19 (NIV) - Although you may be inexperienced, God can still use you. - “May the Lord give you discretion and understanding wherever he puts you.” - “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” - “Is not the Lord your God with you?” - “Build the sanctuary of the Lord God.” • It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in the church. It only matters how far you’re willing to go for Him.
