Nothing defines the era I grew up in more than the film Paddle to the Sea which was shown every year in elementary school. Hundreds of us would be herded into the gym, the A/V Specialist would thread the film through the big reel-to-reel projector, and the teachers would fade to the perimeter walls as the lights were turned out. Two hundred normally restless elementary school students sat perfectly behaved on a hardwood floor with their eyes transfixed on the projection screen completely engrossed in the saga of a little hand carved canoe transversing the world of 1960s/70s environmental disaster. It has been loaded on YouTube in three parts. I watched it tonight for the first time in forty years. It was just as good as I remember it. I hope you enjoy it too.
