Nothing in particular: Good morning from Terre Noire where this farmer is wondering, like a lot of folks these days, whats up with the weather? This time yesterday morning it was -10º C, at 10:00 PM last evening it was +10º C and now it s -4º C. We missed the snow that pounded Ontario and the eastern part of the country - we got it in the form of endless hard driving rain. I think Id sooner the snow - it doesnt wash out the laneway. Yesterday, over coffee a friend mentioned that earlier in the day she had dropped in on the local seniors nursing home and while she was there they had a fire-drill. I would think that a lot of senior care facilities are reviewing their emergency procedures and drills after the terrible fire in LIsle-Verte. QC. The other story the international media seems to be fixated on is the matter of security at the Sochi Olympics in Russia. Just wondering - are you going? Would the thought of a terrorist threat stop you from going? How often do you use lemongrass in preparing meals in your kitchen? With the growing interest in Thai and other popular international recipes it has all of a sudden started to pop up in conversation and cooking shows. You wont find any growing in Terre Noire - its a plant more suited to the tropics or a commercial greenhouse. Enough of my ramblings - its your turn now. Have a good one. Russ 2014-01-28
