Nothing monumental, just a slow and easy day. I didnt bring Scarlet out into the yard for dinner so I could see where she stands in the herd now. She was once boss mare and made it known but, that was years ago. I had made her feed special with cough-eze mixed in. This stuff really stinks and smells a lot like black pepper. Its truly hard to hide the smell even if I soak her grain and mix it all in. I played musical buckets for a while until I realized that Scarlet is no longer the boss she once was and she was served last. She didnt really seem to mind until she discovered the med in her food. Her lip curled in the air and she walked away with a snort. Try as she may to be cute and sneaky ... she simply couldnt get her nose in Study or Annabelles bucket so, then it was time to test the new guy, Reuben. Inch by inch and step by step she moved in closer as Reuben pinned his ears and warned her. Scarlet yawned repeatedly, trying to be as aloof to his threats as possible. She came very close but, when he began to stomp, she looked up at me so pitiful. I caved in and emptied her food to the ground so the water and some of the meds could drain off some of the awful taste. Poor stubborn baby. I have to come up with something else because I am pretty sure I would have snorted and walked away as well. Scarlet began to pick slowly at her food and still raised her head to stare at me from time to time. In a short while everyone was finished before her because of all the time she had wasted trying to get the others to share. So, within about two minutes, here comes the moocher of all moochers, Annabelle. Scarlet didnt even pin her ears as Annabelle wondered up .... she just walked away smiling and looked back at Annabelle as if to say Its all yours wench, get yerself a big helping of that I cant believe I am about to do this but, I feel so guilty for laughing at my old friend, Im going out to take a bucket of non medicated feed to my girl. Oh what would my world be without them? :)
