Nothing new given the British state are already enforcing a draconian policy of internal exile here in Occupied Ireland. Countless Republicans, including Martin Corey have been victims of being forced into internal exile. The British state attempted to force me into internal exile almost 2 years ago, but I refused and remained in prison. I have comrades who are currently suffering under this form of prolonged punishment and they suffer more than most with housing issues, benefits and employment problems and of course the fact they are forced to live miles away from their families and friends puts even more stress and pressure on them, making it difficult to lead anything that resembles a normal family life. Coupled with that is the fact the British forces can pick and choose where to put them, the end result can also mean they are forced to live in a unionist/loyalist area which increases the risk of Loyalist death squads issuing threats, which has happened recently near Newry. As always the British state claim they are bringing in these measures to combat, what they describe as, Islamic Jihadists yet as is always the case these punishment policies will also be used against Irish Republicans. In the same way methods and policies used against Irish Republicans over the decades are now being deployed against others who the British establishment view as a threat.
