Nothing upsets me more than to see/hear people using religion as a basis for debate on public policy....now hear me out before judging. I love Jesus Christ and I will always love Him, but we must recognize that there are others who dont believe. Our founding fathers may have created this country on Christian values, but included freedom of religion as well. So basically if you want to worship Jesus or worship a teacup, the government has no right to impose on your freedom to do so. Likewise, the religious views of our elected officials should not affect their views on public policy. To put this in perspective, consider this: each and every one of us would be outraged if a lawmaker made it illegal to tell your kids that Santa is real. Thats not the same! Really? Its a lie after all. A small white lie, but a lie anyway. Following our doctrine, a sin is a sin. Magnitude of a sin does not exist in Gods eyes. Every sin is punishable, no matter how harmless. So who are we to say that we cant enact a law because it goes against our religion? Tyranny begins when a select few are allowed to dictate the lives of the majority. LOVE IS LOVE!!
