Notice!! The Lenoir County Commissioners met this morning to unanimously pass a resolution and announce the expansion of the E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company operations in Lenoir County. The company plans to create 18 new jobs whose average annual wage will likely exceed $60,000 plus benefits. The average wage in Lenoir County is $32,744. The expansion is due to the strong demand for Duponts renewable Sorona polymer that is used in fiber applications for textiles such as home furnishings and carpets. This expansion comes with a 3 year $30 million dollar investment in the local facility. That expansion is made possible through several grants and incentives including $80,000 from the 1-NC Fund, and a $1,000,000 incentive from Lenoir County. The $1,000,000 incentive from Lenoir County will be over a 10 year period tied to employment fulfillment and should be more than recouped in Property Taxes from the $30 million dollar investment. This Project also helps further solidify E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Companys presence in Lenoir County. This expansion also furthers Lenoir Countys presence in the BioTech industry.
