Notice from Otorohanga District Council : PROPOSED RETAINING SEA WALL - KAWHIA FORESHORE RESERVE The Kawhia Community Board has proposed that a 1.0 metre high timber retaining wall, faced with rocks, is constructed along the seaward edge of the Kawhia Foreshore Reserve, in the area between the museum and the skateboard park. The intention of this is to level the surface of the reserve and to prevent further erosion or subsidence of land near to the shore. Works will not extend below the existing mean high water mark, and hence this will only stabilise the existing land. There is no reclamation of marine areas.
