Notice, however, that in many cases here, the dog attacked first. - TopicsExpress

Notice, however, that in many cases here, the dog attacked first. Also, unlike dogs, cats are still half-wild. They are predators, and feral cats are loners. They have to be tough and iron-fisted to survive in the wild -- where the animals that prey on *them* also include dogs, coyotes, and wolves. Even so, if I caught my cat terrorizing a dog that hadnt gone after her, Id get out the ol bottle of Bitter Apples and let her know this is NOT something she should do, ever again. (Bitter Apples is a spray that smells horrible to cats, dogs, and ferrets. One or two puffs of the stuff can get whoever is targeted by it heading for the tall timbers at about 90 mph. You dont have to hit the animal, or even yell at it a lot. The stench does it all, and little of it is needed to get the point across. I once stopped two of my ferrets from killing each other by spraying them down with Bitter Apple, because of which they instantly let go of each other and retreated to the far ends of their cage.)
