Notice to TALL SHIPS AMERICA members: Many of our readers who are Tall Ships America members are confused about the terms on which they are receiving the magazine. Our issue #1 came out in January 2014 and was mailed to many people in the industry in hopes that they would subscribe. We also gave away many copies at the Tall Ships America conference in San Diego, the Maine Boatbuilder’s Show, and similar venues. In March we struck a deal with Tall Ships America by which they would send issue #2 (Spring 2014) to all their members. They offered a year’s subscription to everyone who renewed their Tall Ships membership *after that point*. Many Tall Ships members assumed that all members would receive the magazine from that point on, but this is not the case. Current members, including those who had received issue #2, would not receive any further issues until they had RENEWED their membership. This led to a lot of Tall Ships members contacting us after issues #3 (Summer 2014) and #4 (Fall 2014) came out, wondering why they had not received their magazines! Everyone I have spoken to about this issue has been very understanding. However, for every reader I’ve spoken to, I am sure there are several more grumbling in their beer, assuming that either we are defrauding them of their rightful magazines, or have ceased publication. This situation was made worse by the fact that some readers received issue #4 almost immediately while others (whose magazines were mailed on the same date and from the same post office) had to wait weeks before their magazines showed up. I hope this information will help clear up any misunderstandings that are out there. If you have questions about this, you can reach us at: Marlinspike1812@gmail or by calling (978) 561-3020.
