For what its worth I think this would be disastrous for the SNP and for Nicola Sturgeons leadership. In a coalition with Labour the SNP will suffer the same fate as LibDems with Conservatives. Tarred with the brush of all the unpopular policies. The SNP has no democratic mandate anywhere but Scotland and it is essential that their position fighting for more devolution and democracy in Scotland is not undermined by having to agree to unpopular policies UK wide. Nicola Sturgeon must not have her authority undermined by being accused of being manipulated from London. The best position for SNP at Westminster is as a large block of pro Scottish MPs outside Government and able to influence policy in a genuine open debate. Many voters in England will not vote Labour if they think it means a coalition with SNP. All this will smack of is exactly what his opponents accuse him of - personal ambition, ego and a reluctance to let go of the reins of power. This plays into the hands of Labour and The Tories. It could lead to a resurgence in Labour at Holyrood. Time to be very careful and genuinely think of The Common Weal.
