Noticed my milk expired, Today everything has an expiration date, especially food. I can remember when on cold winter days like this, My mom would go to an Elm tree just above our spring and with a hatchet knock off the bark and beneath the bark is a layer that she would chip off and bring it in and make tea. Then into the cellar for Dried meat (bapa) and dried corn (wastunkala) and ( timpsila) wild turnipsW, and make soup which would last 2-3 meals. never had to worry about expiration dates. Dried patties from chokecherries, (chumpah) Plums ( kanta) buffalo berries ( mastincapute ) and of course there was a lot of wild game too. Every fall we had friends and neighbors join us in putting fresh dirt on roof and new mud for cracks in log walls, then we would go to their house and do that there, There was 3 families living close together, about 2 miles apart and we helped each other. But then the BIA said, Oh you poor Indians should not be living like this. Come here, well intergrate you into society Liquor was opened to Indians and young one sent to boarding schools to learn English, because they cant understand the jibberish we were talking. LOL. today they are awarding grants to learn that language again. what they dont understand is that you have to live that language of Harmony, Understanding, Laughter and Peace. Color Nature Gone, bland. Sorry, Sir ,Nothing there..........( Ravings of a Lunatic)-----Myron.
