Noticed some interesting trends, there are some recent reissues / releases with higher than usual retail price. (by 1 fold to 2 folds) Some hypothesis. When you manufacture an item, if the good units / total units are said 90%, definitely due to low wastage the production cost will be lower thus the retail selling price will be lower naturally. But if the good units / total units are said 50%, definitely due to high wastage the production cost will be way higher thus the retail selling price will be higher naturally. But the problem is customers may not want to pay higher for the same product as production yielding performance has nothing to do with customers. You have a few options. Option 1, either sell it by branding it under an exclusive touch (paint job) and giving out some exclusive freebies, mark up higher 200%- 300% than usual market price - the huge margin will offset losses from bad parts, then sell rejects at cheaper price much later. Option 2, sell at normal price limited quantity, let the price runs up in secondary market, then sell the rejects at normal price again. Option 3, passed the cost entirely to consumers, sell at higher prices. Either way for popular products, it is always recommended to buy early at normal retail price or discounted price, and avoid chasing yesterday history by buying overpriced exclusives. When it is overpriced in the beginning, most of the time the only thing left is down. - admin The_Analyst -
