Notions regarding SSB : A must read by each Georgian As my interest in the subject Psychology; I have attended only a few introductory classes on general psychology and physiological psychology. Though I have covered and touched lots of topics in the book out of my interest, so here applying and using that knowledge I am going to discuss or rather putting my point of view about SSB, which I think is a must to know about my approach of perceiving the thoughts regarding the very issue. Friends I have seen my seniors and my batch mates, each individual keep a different thought about SSB in his unconscious mind, but in our conscious mind we all generalize the thoughts regarding SSB, based on our preconceived notions and follow the strategies of our seniors or batch mate who is already been through the test. Its fine, seniors are our best well wishers in the RMS family, but by telling their strategies about SSB they actually harm their juniors or buddies who are about to give their SSB. We have a wide notion in our mind about the Psychologists & GTOs and we fail to understand the basic approach of theirs to select a candidate from the crowd. We all say that, “ yaar ssb wale kya dekhte hai kuch nhi pata, aisi hi select kar lete hai kya, luck matters dude, & bla… bla… bla… That’s it there we go wrong in ur approach! They always select with logics and reasons, a right and appropriate candidate for defense services. They are trained persons, they select the appropriate candidate always and never fail in doing so. First thing which you must have to digest is that, for defense services, they need critical thinkers; critical thinker is a psychological term which in simple language means that, they neither take intellectuals nor duffers, they just take the persons who are good performer in each field, they don’t need poor or best, they just need average, above average and good slot of candidates. The other thing; whether you join a coaching institute or not, it hardly matters because they know, by your first appearance and sentence spoken by you whether you took a coaching or not. And both the slots, those who have taken coaching and those who have not taken coaching are judged by different parameters by them. So it does not make a difference because when parameters are different so it doesn’t matter whether you have taken a coaching or not. SSB is a scientifically designed test, Psychological tests are in the beginning because of a reason, they judge your personality from there, that personality shown by you in your psychological test is confirmed in your GTO tasks. Interview is a random test which can happen on any of the 4 days of SSB procedure, which test your personality in a unique way. Now see the pattern, they have three ways to judge you, Psychologist portray a personality of yours, which is confirmed by your performance in GTO tasks ; now these two sets of your personality are compared by the personality which came out from the interview which you give over there. All these things are discussed in the conference held at the fifth day of SSB. You must be thinking that, what about the screening? In screening also, our personality is being judged by the IQ test which we don’t take seriously and by the story telling. Basically their approach to select the candidate in screening is that, they want talkative candidates (talkative: in positive sense, not a chatter box) not a monotonous person or a introvert person, they take those who speak; in simple words we can say they judge your confidence. So if you do better in IQ test and speak confidently in story telling you can be there in their eyes. That is the process of selection. A word for seniors: each individual is unique, parameters of one’s ability are different in everyone. Your IQ cannot be applied on the IQ of other persons. If this would have been the case then all would have been toppers or mediocre or failures. But it is not so! As of now, I can tell you this much about the issue as I would grow my knowledge in the subject I will update you all with more facts & figures along with scientific evidences. Its my humble request to all those who are going to give their SSB this time and to my juniors who will give their SSB next year, that please delete all your preconceived notions about SSB from your mind before you project yourself over there.
