Thanks to everyone who came and contributed to an excellent discussion. Please tell other people you know about the meeting and watch out for details of future Nottingham Counterfire meetings. >Student Assembly Against Austerity Following the massively successful People’s Assembly Against Austerity in June, student activists around the country have called a Student Assembly Against Austerity. This event will take place on Saturday 2 November in London and its aim is to build a broad and powerful movement against this governments attack on students and young people. There will be a leafleting session to promote the Student Assembly next Thursday (17th October) at Nottingham Trent University. Meet outside the Boots Library at 12.30. It’s probably best to leaflet in a couple of ‘bursts’ between lecture changeovers etc… Please get in touch (nottinghamcounterfire@gmail) if you can lend a hand. >Nottingham People’s Assembly planning meeting – 5th November ‘Bonfire of Austerity’ Direct Action Meet at 6.30pm on Tuesday 15th October in the Orange Tree pub, Shakespeare Street, to help make plans and organise for Nottingham’s ‘Bonfire of Austerity’. The Nottingham events will be part of a national day of protest and direct action against the government. This meeting will be followed by a anti-Bedroom Tax organising meeting just across the road! >Counterfire National Meeting Members, supporters and friends of Counterfire are invited to attend this national meeting in London on 20th October. The meeting will discuss the latest developments in national and international politics and will map out how activists can respond.
