Nov 1, 2014. Russia: Moscow gears up for Red Square parade Moscow geared up for the annual Red Square military parade next week by staging the first dress rehearsal on Saturday. The parade, which will take place on November 7th, will commemorate the 73rd anniversary of a Red Army march in the city in 1941. During the original ceremony, the Nazi forces were advancing on the city and Red Army troops marched off the parade straight to the frontlines. Saturday's rehearsal was attended by 6,500 people, the majority of which were young volunteers. The parade, which was itself held to commemorate the October Revolution, had a significant effect in raising the morale of the army and the nation at a time when it was under great threat. #RUSSIA
