Nov 19 was WORLD TOILET DAY According to WHO, 1.1 billion people (15 per cent of the global population) practice OPEN DEFECATION. Our WASH YOUR HANDS booklet for CAMBODIA, where 8.6 million people practice Open Defecation, touches the problems caused by Open defecation. WASH YOUR HANDS is being distributed by our partner organization in Siem Reap Cambodian Childs Dream Organization (CCDO) through their sanitation education programs at schools. CCDO has also built over 100 latrines (underground IDE tanks ) in the rural communities. You can build a toilet for a rural family by donating $250 through CCDO. Countries that account for almost three-quarters of the people who practice open defecation: WHO India (626 million) Indonesia (63 million) Pakistan (40 million) Ethiopia (38 million) Nigeria (34 million) Sudan (19 million) Nepal (15 million) China (14 million) Niger (12 million) Burkina Faso (9.7 million) Mozambique (9.5 million) Cambodia (8.6 million).
