The recruitment of individuals into the Nigerian airforce covers a wide range of disciplines, these include; air traffic control , Information technology, quantity and surveying, meteorology, statistics, museum and archives, building technology, architecture, and medicals. Nigeria airforce recruitment exercises normally include several aptitude tests that are conducted in 12 cities spread across the country, these are; Makurdi, Ilorin, Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin , Kaduna , Kano, Maiduguri, Akure, Sokoto, and Yola. The Nigerian Airforce The Nigerian Airforce is one of the largest in Africa, it consists about 10,000personnel, which also include more than 20 alpha Jets, about 15 F-7s, armed helicopters and several armed military transports. The Nigeria airforce was founded on 18th April 1964, and it was in 1962 that the Nigerian Government recruited the first sets of cadets for pilot training in some European countries. The Nigerian airforce has taken part in several peace keeping missions in different African countries which include; Congo Democratic Republic, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast. The Nigerian Airforce system is presently monitored and controlled by a service headquarters, and 6 different staff branches. Nigerian airforce online recruitment The Nigerian airforce online recruitment exercises are in stages . Applicants applying for positions in the listed departments are expected to possess a minimum a BSC degree with a minimum of second class lower grade, or a minimum of lower credit for Higher National Diploma {HND} Holders., in addition to this, prospective applicants are also expected to possess 3 credits in subjected relating to their profession, plus credit in mathematics and English language subjects. Computer literacy will be an added advantage for all applicants. Some other requirements expected from applicants include NYSC discharged certificates or a letter of exemption from the compulsory NYSC, and all applicants are expected to have been registered with professional bodies linked with their professions. Male applicants are expected to be at least 1.68 meters tall while their female counterparts are expected to be 1.65meters tall. Applicants for all advertised posts should not be younger than 22 and must not be older than 30 by December ,2012, but serving personnel applying for positions and over the age of 35 will be appointed as Branch commissioners. Nigerian airforce short service commission The Nigerian airforce short service commission {DSSC} has released the names of successful applicants for its Enlistment exercises which was carried out some months back. The final selection interview was conducted at the Nigerian Airforce Base , in Kawo Kaduna between the 18th and 23rd of June 2012. The new recruitment exercise for the 2013 has already began and successful applicants list for Batch 1 has been released, the second batch of successful applicants – DSSC batch B will be released between the 2nd and 23rd of February 2013 while application will close by the middle of November 2012. Recruitment interview for successful batch B applicants will follow in January 2013.
