Nov 7 I am grateful for a special laugh from a special person. Today would have been my deceased husband, Jims 74th birthday. I can say a lot about our 45 years together. We had a great love for each other. Instead I want to begin with a thanks to Ted and Sue Tedesco who sort of brought us together. It was May 3, 1959 o Sunday evening. I was on my first date with a new friend, Mike Nieman which was a double date with the pair. . We went to the Plaza Bowling Alley in Belleville where we all lived. It was such an important night for me, I still can remember exactly what I was wearing. I wore a straight plaid skirt and a white blouse with black flats. The skirt had one of those Ivy League Buckles at the curve of the back attached. Nothing really impressive, but comfortable for bowling. I suppose for an 18 year old, I looked fine. The evening was uneventful until I heard this laugh. Now every one in the place seem to recognize it, but me. It continued onto our spot. I am not a great bowler but I knocked the one and the ten pin that was left from my first try at getting the set down on their side. Anyway I watched the ball I threw go to the edge of the gutter all the way down to the 2 lonely pins. It went very slowly to hit the pin on the right then that pin knocked the one down on the left. Then I heard the Laugh again plus this time he said something like this, Check this out, you gotta be kidding me! Then he came up to me and told me how he was impressed with my bowling. I was not impressed, but in awe of the guy with the laugh. He was good looking & had a mass of muscle. It took him 4 phone calls with rejection for a date before we went out. That was it! Happy Birthday, Jim! You were a great man and kept that laugh all during your 9 month battle with cancer. There is an army of family and friends who still remember the special laugh.
