November 10 Acts 6 - 9 Topic: No Turning Back Text: Proverbs 6: 3 - 11 The army of the Lord is a disciplined one. There is no room for anyone who is not serious-minded. Idlers and loafers are summarily dealt with in the army of the Lord. Luke 3:9 says: “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruits is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” Deserters also face instant death. Once you join the army of Christ, there is no backing out. In the list of our armoury, in Ephesians 6:13-17, there is nothing for our backs. You are finished the day you turn your back to the enemy. Furthermore, in the army of the Lord, there is no room for slothfulness. There are no rooms for lazy people, according to John 5:17: “But Jesus answered them, My father worketh hitherto, and I work.” In the army of the Lord, you are supposed to be diligent and hardworking. If the Almighty God still works, and the Lord Jesus, too, works, there is no excuse for anyone to be lazy. Also, there is no room in the army of the Lord for divided loyalties. Your loyalty must be to the Commander-in-Chief only. Matthew 10:37-40 says: “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” Loyalty is an important requirement for retaining a position in the army. A soldier who decamps can never be tolerated. There is no turning back for a true soldier. No matter how tough the battle is, you must forge ahead. Quitters never win and winners never quit. A true soldier of the cross will follow the Lord through thick and thin. Memory Verse: Luke 22:62 - And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.”
