November 11, 2013 – Monday Psalm 98:4 – New Revised Standard Version Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. NO ITUNES NEEDED A friend inquired as to what tunes I played during my daily two mile walk. My answer was none because I use my walk as a time to meditate as the day begins. My morning meditations often are filled with song, just not ones I download on to my phone. Music is one of the most wonderful teaching tools. I am amazed at how many old hymns, church choir anthems and other sacred music comes into my head each morning. I find myself singing those in my mind and forgetting about the burn that takes place in my muscles. Although I do not break into song during my walk it is not unusual for me to do so when I am at home alone or even when I am not alone. Breaking into song is a wonderful expression of joy, praise and thanks giving for all that God has done for us. My sister in law had a banner hanging in her house that said “One who sings prays twice.” Pray twice today and “Make a joyful noise to the Lord… break forth into joyous song and sing praises.” Prayer: Lord Jesus, put a song in our hearts and minds to day. Makes us bold to break into singing joyous songs of praise for what you have done for us. Even if we think we cannot sing move us to make a joyful noise to you. Send your Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with joy this day. Amen.
