November 12, 2014 1115hrs The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad has made an arrest in regards to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred 10/18/2014 on Hope Street just south of Hyde Street at 0731hrs. A 1986 Chevrolet food vending truck had been traveling northbound on Hope Street approaching Hyde Street when it became disabled partially in the northbound lane near Hyde Street. The operator, Rafael Acosta-Escobar age 27 of Greenwich Av Stamford, was adding gasoline to the vehicle while his wife Angela Lopez-Acosta age 34 stood next to him on the travel side of the northbound lane. A 2003 Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle traveling southbound on Hope Street was being operated by Victor MEDINA-Fajardo age 32 of 873 Washington Blvd Stamford, CT. The Ford crossed over the double yellow line and struck both people standing next to the truck. Information developed during the investigation indicates that Mr. Medina-Fajardo fell asleep while driving Mrs. Lopez-Acosta sustained life threatening injuries and was transported by Stamford Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Stamford Hospital’s Trauma Room. She succumbed to her injuries later that morning. This morning Mr. MEDINA-Fajardo surrendered for service of a Superior Court warrant charging him with Misconduct with a Motor Vehicle. He was held on $25,000.00 bond and will be presented this morning for arrangement at Stamford Superior.
