November 16th, it is snowing here today, but it is still Epilepsy - TopicsExpress

November 16th, it is snowing here today, but it is still Epilepsy Awareness Month. Today obviously I am talking about the numbers related to epilepsy. I wont repeat what is already stated in the images. I am going to add some numbers never mentioned though, with some understanding behind them. According to WebMD, people with epilepsy are 3 times as likely to commit suicide as the general population. Suicide prevention is another social cause I have been active in for over 20 years, and I was completely unaware of this. It makes sense though. Most people with epilepsy are on toxic meds with awful side effects, giving them easy access to means. Many sustain injuries and other kinds of losses because of their seizures. They are ostracized, shut out, misunderstood and made fun of. Like all disabilities they are 3 times as likely to suffer from abuse as the general population. They live with humiliation on a regular basis, every time we have a seizure in public, though many may be supportive or sympathetic, the sheer nature of what happens, how people see us during a seizure is unavoidably humiliating, it is just how it is. If you dont believe me look up a video called Seizure Prank on youtube, and read the comments below. The fact that someone can use seizures to commit a prank says a lot anyway. webmd/epilepsy/news/20070705/epilepsy-linked-to-higher-suicide-risk https://youtube/watch?v=3-Ko3Gnwc3I (seizure prank, this guy needs to be hit in the head and develop a TBA with seizures I swear)
