November 19th____________________Gracew!n Do you know that you can never come to a place where you have exhausted the mercies of God for your life. God is plenteous in mercy and abounding in compassion. That is why Jeremiah talks of His mercies (plural) and not mercy (singular). You see, the slight difference between Grace and Mercy is this: Grace is receiving the good that you dont deserve when Mercy is not receiving the bad that you do deserve. Mercy is all about forgiveness and pardon. When they came to arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, Simon Peter had a sword with which He cut off the ear of a servant of the High Priest; his name was Malchus. Yet in the midst of being arrested, betrayed by his own disciples and being forsaken by his only friends, Jesus could relate to the pain of Malchus. In His plenteous mercy, Jesus stooped down and healed the very one who had come to arrest him. This is what mercy is all about. What Malchus deserved was a severe punishment for trying to arrest the sinless Son of the living God. But what He got was the healing touch of love from the Creator. My friend, when God overlooks a sin and grants a pardon because of the immense goodness of his nature and love for you, that is MERCY. So live today knowing that Gods got great goodness and mercy stored up for you and see His favor work on your behalf. God bless!
