November 25, 2013. The daily Word is “imputed.” Romans 4:23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. NKJV The word “imputed”, in the Greek was originally a business term, and meant an inventory. What is being imputed here is righteousness, or right standing in the eyes of God based on our actions and thoughts. When God looks at our lives, and takes an inventory of our behavior, of our deeds, He doesnt find that we are vile and evil. Instead, His accounting of us, if you will, is based on Christs inventory. That comes through our faith in Him, not because we deserve it on our own. It really is the same idea as justification, which is a legal term saying we are found not guilty of sin because of our faith in Yeshua. Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for the just shall live by faith. How is faith demonstrated, since its so central to our relationship with God? By obedience. If we do indeed have faith in Christ, then it will be apparent in our lives. Habitual sin is not covered by grace, and if someone continues to live as if Christ is not in their lives, then He isnt. Faith results in obedience, and obedience brings fruit. When we walk in the righteousness imputed to us in Christ, these things will be evident in our lives: Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Prayer: Daddy God, when you look at us, Your children, You find no fault in us, because there is no fault in Yeshua. It is on His righteousness we count, not our own, which is as filthy rags in Your sight. Grant that our lives will bear fruit worthy of repentance, the fruit of Your Spirit. In the name of Yeshua, our righteousness. Amen! Brenda K.
