November 3rd 2014: Daily Encounters The Holy Bible – Its Sacred Content ‘‘They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.’’ - Isaiah 11:9 Today’s scripture Reading. 2 Peter 1:19-20. There is something sacred about the scriptures. I read of a story of an atheist who burnt copies of the Bible at his disposal. Many years after His death, some Christians bought his house and unknowingly turned it into a printing press for the Bible. Beloved, the bible is old but it remains active, because its source is sacred. The source of the bible is divinity, so it remains ever sacred from everlasting to everlasting. The language of the bible might not be with modern oxford English but it remains more than relevant. The men who authored the bible might have died but its sacredness lives on. The bible still remains the largest volume of books sold on the earth today. The reason is that is contains the breath of God upon it. It is more than an ordinary book. God has made the bible accessible to us today in different translations, different forms and ways. It is available in every Nation of the world; it is available all over the internet. Today many Christian organizations and ministries distribute hard copies of the bible for free today to hospitals, hotels, prisons and other places. I have heard testimonies of people who just picked up the bible, started reading and encountered God in the process. Without anyone preaching to them, they met with the chief author of the bible Himself and surrendered their lives to Him. Whoever cannot destroy the Spirit behind the bible cannot destroy the bible. Those who have tried to destroy the Bible are directly fighting against God and He will not spare them at all. Prayer. Ask God for a deeper understanding of the scriptures today God’s word to you. Give the word first place in your life
