November 4, 2013 “ICTR Promises Help in Genocide Cases” Ostine Arinaitwe Gashugi, Rwanda Focus The International Criminal tribunal for Rwanda (ITCR) has promised to help the National Prosecution Authority in the transferred genocide cases as the Arusha based court winds up its operations. ICTR prosecutor general Hassan Bubacar Jallow told The Rwanda Focus that his office is committed to ensuring that cases transferred to Rwanda are managed successfully and that the remaining fugitives on the run will be tracked. Although the ICTR is closing, the fugitives will be tracked down. They can continue running but will never hide forever, Jallow said. The ICTR prosecutor generals remarks comes in the wake of reports that genocide suspect Jean Bosco Uwinkindi had asked for a transfer back to Arusha but Jallow said there is nothing to show that he is not receiving a fair trial in Rwanda. allafrica/stories/201311050916.html
