November 6, 2014 Dear Parents/Guardians It is with great sadness that I am writing you regarding the great loss that we have suffered in our high school and in our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the students who lost their life or suffered injuries in the accident Wednesday night. Our top priority is the well-being of our students and to that end we have taken several steps to assist them in dealing with this terrible loss. We have activated our crisis counseling team at the high school, and we met before school with our teachers to help prepare them to assist our students. We also have cancelled all activities today, including all athletic events and practices and our senior cap and gown meeting. The sudden loss of life can have a profound effect on young people so we encourage you to talk to your child about their feelings and how they are dealing with this tragedy. We have counselors available to assist, so please let us know if your child would like to meet with a counselor. This loss affects everyone in our school family and in the Streator community.
