November 9, 2014 - Children Sing - Second Sunday of End Time Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church! In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through his Son, Jesus Christ. Our congregation also operates a Lutheran school for students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. If you would like to learn more about our church or school, please contact one of our pastors, the principal, or another representative of our church or school. They would be happy to assist you. Information * A staffed nursery is located in the very back of the church lobby. Volunteers are available during both services and the Bible study hour to care for children up through three years of age. * Reserved seating for families with young children is available in the back three pews on both sides of the sanctuary. Please keep these pews reserved for families even if you have arrived late. * Hearing assistance is available. Personal listening devices are available in the church entryway for anyone who may have difficulty hearing the service. Please ask an usher for more information. The sanctuary is also “looped” for those whose hearing aids can pick up the signal. * Large print service booklets are available on the shelf along the side wall in the church lobby. * Children’s activity sheets are also available on the shelf in the church lobby. Parents may pick up a copy for their young children to use during the service. * Cell phones should be turned off or put on vibrate mode so as not to disrupt others during the service. Thank you for your cooperation. * Registration cards are given to all families and individuals along with this worship booklet as they enter the church. One side of the registration card is for members; the other side is for visitors. The cards are collected after the sermon during the offering, when they are handed in toward the center aisle. If time permits, please fill out your card prior to the start of the service. Visitors may also use this form to tell us about themselves or to make a request. * Coffee is served between services in the church lobby or, weather permitting, outside in the rose garden. We invite everyone to join us for a time of fellowship between today’s services. Season of the Church Year The last four weeks of the church year are called the End Time season. As the name suggests, our thoughts during this season are primarily directed toward the end of the world: Christ’s return and final judgment, heaven and hell, and Jesus’ eternal reign as the King of kings and Lord of lords. Focus of Today’s Service Just as Jesus visible left this earth when he had completed his work of saving us from sin, so he will also return visibly to this earth to judge all people at the end of time. The thought of being judged by the Lord of the universe would be frightening were it not for the forgiveness of our sins and the promise of heaven that Jesus’ death and resurrection give to all who believe in his saving work.
