November 9, 2014 Mid-State Kart Club Meeting Minutes (Annual Rules Meeting) Tim Strawkas and Loren Kisling motioned to approve the October meeting minutes. Al Burkett gave the Treasurer’s report. The club remains in a good financial shape to carry through in the off-season. Kevin Moffett and Ryan Aden motioned to approve the Treasurer’s report. Since most tracks are banning the mounting of video cameras to helmets for safety concerns, MSKC will not allow helmet cameras starting in 2015. Motioned by Denny Kessinger, second by Tom Tapocik. Motion passed. Cameras can still be mounted on the kart. 2015 Club officers: The only contested office was Vice President of Competition won by Ken Williams. The 2014 officers remaining in place are: President – Al Burkett Vice President of Operations – Tom Tapocik Treasurer – Stacey Law Secretary – Joe Brittin 2015 Class Discussion: Kid Kart: no changes (ages 5 – 9, weight 150 lbs) Yamaha Junior Sportsman: ages 8 – 12, 250 lbs, 4-hole can(RLV SSX #7548), WA55b carb motioned by Tim Strawkas, second by Todd Rettig. Motion passed. Yamaha Junior: no changes (ages 12 – 15, weight 305 lbs) Yamaha Senior: ages 15 and up, 360 lbs, RLV SR-Y pipe with minimum 9.5 inches flex motioned by Jim Rowe, second by Joe Brittin. Motion passed. TAG Senior: Tom Tapocik motioned to eliminate the class, second Dick Buecker. Motion passed. 4-Cycle Rookie: ages 8 – 12, 265 lbs, LO-206 engine with green slide restrictor motioned by Todd Rettig, second by Tim Strawkas. Motion passed. Clone Junior: no changes (ages 12 – 15, 320 lbs) This class will continue to use the clone engine for one more year and possibly change to the LO-206 engine next year. Clone Senior: ages 15 and up, 375 lbs. Motioned by Tim Strawkas, second by Denny Kessinger. Motion passed. Briggs Senior LO-206: no changes (ages 15 and up, 375 lbs) The third reading and vote of an amendment to the club by-laws was voted on and passed. To qualify for year-end awards: Member must be in good standing: - All dues paid - All debts paid - Any lost or damaged property (such as a transponder) paid for - If placed on probation, all terms must be satisfied - Not on suspension at time of awards banquet Member must work a minimum of 25 hours at: - Two regular club races - Three special events (such as Route 66 Series, Vintage races, Arrive & Drive, Oval Series, Winter Kart Show, Mid-West Speed Expo) Member must work at two club work days or 10 hours total at other work projects Member serving as a club officer will satisfy the above requirements. Special event volunteers can sign-up on a first-come/first-serve basis. Minimum work hours will be pro-rated for members who join past mid-year. Al Burkett attended the November 4th township meeting at the Buffalo Firehouse to discuss repairs and maintenance of Kender Lane since it is a Mechanicsburg township road. Al will attend the next meeting on December 2nd since there is still a question about a previous maintenance agreement with MSKC that came into effect when the club property was purchased. David Cox volunteered to help Tim Strawkas maintain the club web site in 2015. A work day has been scheduled for November 15 to start the pit lane relocation project which will widen and move the pit lane that exits the monza corner. The lane will be connected to a new concrete pad south of the current tech shelter and the scales will be moved to this area. Next club meeting will be December 16 at Top Cats. Organization of the Winter Kart Show will be discussed. Loren Kisling and Jim Rowe motioned to adjourn.
