November Writers Cafe: (From an Above the Bridge email) Thanks to all who came out for our Can You Spare Some Change? Writers Cafe. It was a wonderful evening. Without a moments rest (well, maybe a moment), we are heading straight into next month. We are now seeking submissions for our November Writers Cafe. The theme for is Thanks, but No Thanks. Writers Cafe is on Monday, November 3; submissions are due on Sunday, October 26. We look forward to reading/seeing/listening to you soon! ****************************** Above the Bridge is a playground for writers. It is a place to encourage and cultivate neighborhood writers and provide them with an audience for their work. Heres How It Works: A theme is chosen for each month. Writers may submit five minutes of material of any genre or style (poetry, plays, fiction, non-fiction, blogs, etc.) that reflect the months theme. Pieces will be chosen by the Above the Bridge selection team to be read by the author at the next reading series. There will be a short rehearsal prior to the event. Requirements for Writers: Writers must live in Washington Heights or Inwood. Please attach your name, address and phone number with your submission. Pieces should be no longer than 5 minutes, but all work will be considered. You do not have to be a professional writer. New and existing works accepted.
