November is a month for giving thanks. Thanks to all the veterans who have served so valiantly - with honor, courage, conviction and a love for their country and fellow man as their motivational fuel. Ive been privileged to know a few of our countrys finest, well enough to call them dear friends. Everything we assume about them is true. Theyre tough, can endure all kinds of hardships and come out stronger on the other end, theyre passionate about their beliefs and their families, and theyre the most driven, accomplished people I know. If it werent for my asthma and for the fact that I would never have survived basic training, perhaps I would have served among them. (Also, I couldnt have lived more than 90 miles from my parents at the time.) Anyway, take time to thank a vet today. Give them honor, as they stand on that wall and say nothings gonna happen to you tonight. Not on my watch!
