November is prematurity awareness month. Please support your local NICU. Some of the best things you can do for those babies is donate brand new books, handmade hats, new clothes or donate to your nearest Ronald Mcdonald house charities. The most awesome thing that people gave us when our daughter was in the NICU were books, hats, preemie clothes and blankets and food. Most parents who have babies so early, are not able to get prepared in time for their little ones to come home. Some even travel long distances, because they have no place to stay. We were blessed to have such a wonderful NICU only 15 minutes away, but some do not get that luxury and even have to go without seeing their little ones because they cannot get to the hospital. When Caitlin was in the hospital, many would bring food to the hospital. That was a blessing. A lot of times I would find that some people would bring so much, that I would share it with the other parents. And so many people bought books. I have kept all of the books that I read to Caitlin. I remember holding her when she weighed just over 2 pounds and just reading to her Dr. Sues or a bible or animal story. Her favorite was The Night You Were Born and Mr. Who can Moo. And then hats to keep the little heads warm and blankets for kangaroo care. All of these are very much needed. So please support your local NICU and since I have such a difficult time telling people, pkease share this.
