Now Answering our most popular questions. Q: How does air-brush tanning work? A: Our Solution tans the top two layers of your skin, the epidermis, through a natural process called a malliard reaction. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the active ingredient, is a simple carbohydrate derived from vegetable sugars. It is the same active ingredient as all self tanners and has been approved by the FDA since the 1960’s. The process is similar to the way an apple turns brown when left in the air. The malliard reaction or “development” of the DHA takes approximately 8-12 hours, which is why we recommend you wait at least eight hours before showering. After your appointment you will have a beautiful, natural looking golden bronze color. The ‘instant gratification’ you see is a result of cosmetic bronzers which will wash off in your first shower. Don’t panic, once the bronzer washes off you will see your flawless tan underneath.
