Now I remember this real nice young man coming to play Waikato - TopicsExpress

Now I remember this real nice young man coming to play Waikato Winter Strokeplay Championships from Manawatu - his Mum was so very helpful too - in the last NZ Golf tournament I covered at Lochiel - his name was Joshua Munn. Saw a name from the past Glyn Delany and his note re Nelson hosting NZ Amateur championship so I investigated - first since - and saw Joshua won that title 2014 but coincidence I saw another note he had finished runner up 2nd by two shots in the sweet sixteen of one the worlds most prestigious amateur tourneys outside the National Championships. In Chicago its an event Danny Lee topped sweet sixteen and went on to become Western Amateur champion in 2008, a feat only equalled by Bobby Jones, Phil Mickelson and Ben Crenshaw. Joshua now 23 missed out in the matchplay but spose so much great sport happening around the world his feat here may not have registered back home.
