Now THIS was fascinating... a family consisting of one mom, one dad, and two kids walks into Starbucks. Mom and Dad gather them at the counter. Mom explains (paraphrased): Okay everyone, here is $20. As a family, we get to decided what wed all like this morning, but as a family this is what well spend. Now how should we spend it? Kid 1: Ohhhh! We each can have $5! Dad: Good - thats one way. We could divide the $20 evenly. Whats another way? Kid 2: Mom gets to decide! Mom: (laughs) Okay, okay, but what if Mom doesnt want to make the decision and wants us all to decide? What else could we do? Dad: I like that you mentioned sharing the money... what else can you share? ... this went on very quickly, and there was a lot of small talk around it until one kid suggested they get things they can all enjoy. It looks like they ended up with a regular coffee for mom and dad, two snacks that the family split, and some soft of sweet drink, too. I just had to ask! Turns out Dad is a teacher, and they said they always try to teach their kids critical thinking skills every day. #TeachableMoments #FamilysThatLearnTogether
