Now, Two different teams have come to the same conclusion in treatment plan for my Dear Dad, so here goes......place a port in the chest area, we are waiting on the time but this will be done THURSDAY in Outpatient Surgery by the surgeon that did the colon resection in July 2012. Next week we will go to the HOPE Center to begin the IV infusion and administer the IV form of Xeloda (5FU/LV), Oxaliplatin, plus maybe another biologic chemotherapy drug. The oncologist is on board with ALL preventive measures to avoid nausea, weight loss, mouth sores and fatigue. They will be giving Dad anti nausea meds in the IV with the chemo and they have a few more drug options for mouth sores, etc. The oncologist is with me on homeopathic, aromatherapy, Chinese alternatives, acupuncture, etc. types of treatments (just like the ones offered by Cancer Centers of America.) The goal is to keep Dad feeling well, eating well, with little fatigue. So, I would welcome referrals for alternative practitioners in the Augusta County/Charlottesville area. The oncologist is positive that my Dad will gracefully coast through treatments over the next six to eight weeks, then when rescanned, show that the tumor and lymph nodes have diminished in size. At this point, Dad would be offered liver resection surgery. My Dad is convinced and trusts in this treatment plan as well, so he just wants to get started! So, Im asking for prayer on Thursday that the port placement is successful, without complication. And secondly, please pray that this chemotherapy regime attacks the areas of cancerous concern, with minimal side effects. I pray that Dad remains happy, healthy and has energy to do all that he wants to do each day. We have COMPLETE trust and faith of Gods Great Grace and His will to be done. Thank you once again for your continued love and prayers.
