Now a certain was sick, named Lazarus,of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.(John 11 vs 1). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today. In Todays Focal Scripture, Martha was used in describing the city of Bethany. Luke 10 vs 40 offers some insight into the profile of Martha; it says, But Martha was busy with all the work to be done...(Complete Jewish Bible Translation). So, Martha was a woman of service; she was willing to serve even if no one else cared to join her; she was always willing to do something for the Lord. Now, this same woman who was a person of service became so prominent that when it was time to describe Bethany, she became the description. Martha served her way into prominence. Marthas service paved the way for her greatness in destiny. Her name was written in gold on account of her service. Service is the very purpose of life,and not something you do in your spare time. Service is when you unselfishly use your opportunities, resources, abilities, skills etc to work for God and people around you. Service is when your activities give birth to other peoples achievements. Friend, hear this: Your service is a pen that will write your name in gold. God says, Be a willing servant. Be willing to serve even when there is no reward. Be willing to serve even when there is no one to join you. Be a servant even when there will be no applause in the end. Be willing to serve even when your service doesnt seem prestigious. Remember, your service does not subtract from your greatness; it only makes you greater. Your service is an investment that will make men reward you someday. True greatness lies in selfless service. Jesus finally says,...If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all,and servant of all.(Mark 9 vs 35).
