Now for getting into the Christmas mood: a classic from one of my favourite childhood movies. Its not a Disney movie, its from 20th Century Fox (for those who wondered), but the animation is great and the story and the music are wonderful. While it has quite a deep and dark and sometimes scary story, songs like this are there to take you away :3 So this is me singing the Dutch version to Once Upon a December from the movie Anastasia (1997). The Dutch title is Als December Zal Komen (When December Will Come). For those unfamiliar with the movie: its based on the story of the Russian Romanov tsar family. They get cursed by the wicked Rasputin, but the youngest daughter Anastasia manages to escape, although she loses her memories. Years later, Anastasia (or Anya for short) gets kicked out of the orphanage where she grew up and starts a journey to Moscow to find out where she comes from and to find her family. In this scene, she secretly entered the royal palace (where she lived as a child but she doesnt remember) and she has this strange feeling that she knows the place. The song mentioned in the lyrics is a melody her grandmother used to sing to her when she was a child. The Dutch dub for Anastasia is Vera Mann. The literal Dutch lyrics translation: This hall... like a... like a memory from a dream... White swan, surrounded by gold And still in my dreams, sounds a song, someone is singing that December will come Hold me tight, that way Ill be warm Almost, you take me by the arm Like a starter, I waltz through my memory Hold me tight, that way Ill be warm almost, you take me by the arm Like a starter, I waltz through my memory No sadness, everything shines And still in my dreams sounds a song, someone is singing they remain vague phantoms I dont see who is singing that December will come Happy December everybody~! ^^
