Now for something completely different. The Town of New Glasgow is closing their rink, and the Town of Stellarton is thinking of doing likewise. I just want them to remember that the rink is not just an ice surface. It is in many ways the lifeblood of the community. Sure people can go to the Wellness Centre to play hockey, but the public skates that you can walk to, going and watching a game just because it happened at YOUR rink, that is all disappearing. Also being lost is the venue for many great events, be it a homeshow, a concert, or special event. I remember watching the Lipizzaner Stallions at the John Brother MacDonald Stadium. Going to concerts, attending the Home Show and more. IT IS NOT JUST AN ICE SURFACE like people seem to be making it out to be. You want commitment? Rent me either facility for $1.00 a year and I will bring events to your community that you will love. And bring people to the community. People need to think about the future and not just try to aid a facility that is less then a year old and has already been badly mismanaged. PLEASE take my offer and you will see tremendous community building in your town. I dare you!
