Now for the meat and potatoes of what I am grateful for. I am - TopicsExpress

Now for the meat and potatoes of what I am grateful for. I am grateful that Tata Erick and Nana Heddi came to Haida Gwaii to share their vast knowledge of native ceremonial ways. Over the many years of unconditional service to our people he has shared his knowledge of the sweatlodge (temascel in the Mayan tradition), the medicine wheel, the Mayan calendrics (measure of time and meaning), the sacred fire (Mayan mandela), the sunrise ceremony, the pipe ceremony, the alter, the mesa, and the tipi ceremony, to name a few. He has graciously adapted to include our Haida heritage in our own way to each of these ceremonies, so that it was ours. He taught us to live our lives with love, grace, and gratitude. His generousity is something that no one has spoken about. First of all I am grateful for all his time and energy that he gives freely to teach so many people of every race. His goal has always been to enlighten humanity before its too late, about our relationship and responsibility to all creation and our mother earth. He has sponsored many people over the years to attend his gatherings to pray for our present and future generations. He brought ten Haidas to California for the first gathering on the sacred ceremonial land. He opened his home to my son and I when a great ceremonial fan maker was able to spend a week teaching us. I am grateful to Nana and Tata for all their generousity, kindness, and love. Most of all I am grateful for a great teacher. Haawa Tata Eric.
