Now in the twilight of his administration, the Abia State - TopicsExpress

Now in the twilight of his administration, the Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has expressed gratitude to the people of Abia State for their support, saying Christmas is a season of peace, love, gratitude and hope. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, Governor Orji said “We are grateful for the divine assignment that God gave to us about seven and half years ago to liberate Abia and make it one of the progressive states in our nation. We are grateful for your support over the years and we thank God that we have another Christmas to celebrate in an atmosphere of peace and prosperity. According to Orji, “Christmas provides that opportunity to relax and reflect on the values taught by our Lord Jesus Christ, which every of his creature is admonished to imbibe. “We know that one of such is to defend the poor, which has been at the centre of our work in the last seven and half years. “Christmas is a chance to celebrate the birth of Christ and live out what He taught us– to love our neighbours as we would ourselves; to feed the hungry and look after the sick; to be our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper. “As a government, we have made these values a centrepoint of our administration. As a country, this Christmas yet offers us the opportunity to come together to show love to ourselves, care for one another and pray for the unity and peace of our country.” Orji said Nigerians everywhere should take the advantage of the Christmas celebration to commit Nigeria’s elections in 2015 into the hands of God who is the only one that can guide without misleading anyone. “Nigerians must show love for our country as we look forward to the 2015 elections by asking God to guide us. God hears prayers always and there is no better time than now to cry to him and ask for guidance for the forthcoming elections. “As we look to the New Year, let’s pledge ourselves to living out those values by reaching out and lifting up those in our communities who need us for a raise. “We must make it a burden to pray for the success of the 2015 elections and at this time we cannot forget our troops facing war in the North-east. Their families need our prayers and support at this time, when we all have someone to hold tight while they as families of our soldiers in a battle to save our country, are lonely without their loved ones present with them at this time.”
